The 380 SLC, introduced in 1980, featured a more advanced 3.8-liter V8 engine, delivering improved performance over the earlier 350 SL. This enhancement provided a smoother and more responsive driving experience, aligning with the luxury and performance expectations of the era.

The 380 SLC was produced for a brief period, making it one of the rarest models in the R107/C107 lineup (Only 3,789 units). Its limited production run enhances its desirability among collectors and enthusiasts.

Unlike the SL roadsters, which primarily offered seating for two, the SLC models featured a longer wheelbase, accommodating rear seats and providing comfortable seating for four passengers. This design made the 380 SLC a more practical choice for those seeking both performance and the ability to transport additional passengers in comfort.”
